The Market Porter is a traditional Victorian public house and dining room with panoramic views of buzzing Borough Market. Only a few seconds away from London Bridge station.
The Market Porter is a traditional Victorian public house and dining room bursting with character. Our authentic and rustic pub décor will charm any visitor or wizard. Yes, The Market Porter was transformed into the 'Third Hand Book Emporium' in the film 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban', and was situated next to 'The Leaky Cauldron'! How charming is that!?
Above the buzzing ground floor bar is our gorgeous dining room. With its own bar, elegant Victorian decor and panoramic views of Borough Market, our dining room is the perfect space for a traditional English lunch, cosy evening meal and private events.
We are extremely proud of our food at The Market Porter. Open seven days a week, our kitchen serves delicious, classic British and Modern European fare, using local and seasonal ingredients from nearby markets. An all day menu is overseen by Executive Chef Tony Moyse, who has a talent for getting the best out of British ingredients.
Our food is complemented by a great range of award winning traditional ales, craft beers, local gins, and fine wines. We rotate our guest ales frequently - it’s like an ale festival every day of the week. We won’t be surprised if you decide to stay for ‘just one more’.

'The Market Porter is located smack-bang in the middle of London Bridge's commuter badlands, and cuddled up to the tourist-ridden Borough Market, a hotbed for bog-standard boozers with bog-standard food - but this ain't no bog-standard pub. Brimming with authentic character and charm, this spot is a great place to catch an after-work pint or load up on some hearty grub.'
'This traditional ale house, which opens at 6am to actually feed market porters, has 12 real ales and four ciders on tap, plus decent pub food such as steak-and-ale pie, which you can eat amid the ground-floor hustle bustle or upstairs in the sweet little dining room.'
'The charm of the venue and the fantastic choice of beer is a reason to come back time after time.'
